Balquisse and Nicolas
A Love Story That Found Its Way Home
There are weddings that are beautiful. And then there are weddings that feel like they were always meant to happen — in exactly that place, with exactly those people.
This was one of them.
Balkis grew up in Bali. She left at 16, alone, to chase life in Paris — bold, curious, and quietly extraordinary. Nicolas was a Paris firefighter: steady, warm, and fiercely loyal. They met by chance at the Meudon fire station the night before the firefighters' feast day. One glance across the room was all it took. A mutual friend who witnessed it knew immediately: something had just begun.
Eleven years, one child, and a lifetime of adventures later — they came home to say yes.
Not just any home. Her home. Balquisse Heritage Hotel — a piece of Bali that has belonged to Balkis's family for generations — became the backdrop for the most personal day of her life. To celebrate their love surrounded by over a hundred guests who had flown in from across the world, in the very place that holds her roots, made everything feel full circle.
The ceremony itself was everything they are: warm, multilingual, a little spontaneous, and deeply human.
When asked what Nicolas means to her, Balkis didn't pause: "He is my stability. It's the healthiest relationship I've ever had." Then softer: "And he is the most wonderful father to our little miracle."
Nicolas kept it simple, the way he always does: she opened his eyes to the world. She pushed him to be better. And she gave him the greatest role he's ever had.
